Joy of Bathing

Just look at these guys and gals. They are part of Carolyn’s flock, whom you may remember as the “parrots in a pear tree”from yesterday’s post. You can see the sheer joy and exhilaration of getting clean!

In Carolyn’s words:

This photo was taken at my parents’ house when we all moved in with them while my house was being remodeled. My parents are saints! They took in me, my three cats, and at that time, ten birds. Birds from the top right, going clockwise are:

Joey – Green Pacific Parrotlet

Simon – Blue Pacific Parrotlet

Marty – Normal Cockatiel

Alex – White-faced Cockatiel

Petey – Grey-cheeked Parakeet

Madison – Olive-throat Conure

Wendy – Grey-cheeked Parakeet

BB – Military Macaw

I guess the other two are up by the shower head. LOL! Wendy always hides under BB when I put them in the tub. The rest scramble for good places, which depends on what their goal is. Marty and Alex look for the best places to get wet. Some like to get wet, but don’t like standing in the waterfall all that much. The rest look for places to get away from the water altogether. Wendy is usually the only one that succeeds in getting under BB. The rest climb on her back or tail, looking for places to hide. Some enjoy taking a ride on her tail when she walks around. She’s pretty good about letting them do this, but sometimes she protests.

Carolyn says:

Kind of ironic having birds on a “dryer” rack getting “wet”, huh!? This is one of my favorite shower photos. I love Marty’s enthusiasm for getting wet! He loves to stand with his face in the spray! Afterwards, he sneezes a lot, because he gets water in his nares. LOL! Alex does the same thing, but she looks miserable rather than happy. I’m not sure why she doe sit if that’s really the way she feels. Maybe so Marty won’t be alone! LOL!

Let’s see if I can figure out who’s who…….
